GUITAR IMPROVISATION LESSONS

1:1 Guitar Lessons to demystify the fretboard and have you playing inspired guitar solos

Struggling to improve your guitar improvisation?

  • Trying to learn from YouTube

Searching “guitar improvisation” on social media will not give you the results you are looking for.

Many online videos teach you unnecessary exercises and don’t give you the fundamental skills you need to be a great improviser.

  • Not knowing what to focus on

Should you learn music theory? Modes? The CAGED system? Ear training? Technical exercises?

These skills and systems are time consuming and often don’t create a noticeable improvement in your sound.

  • Theory over application

Everything you learn and practice should directly improve your ability to improvise and sound great on the guitar.

If you are learning concepts that are not immediately applied to your playing, then you are likely wasting time and effort.

A system of learning that

  1. Improves quality of your sound, not just the quantity of scales you know

  2. Utilizes bends, slides, rhythm, dynamics, and other techniques to play with subtlety and sound like a professional guitarist

  3. Shows you a framework for understanding the fretboard that enables you to play moving guitar solos and make your instrument sing

  4. Prioritizes hands-on learning over theoretical knowledge

Testimonials

“Max has been incredibly patient and has provided me with a lot of necessary skills to build my guitar playing! He's also got a great personality that makes for a very comfortable learning environment.”

— Kyle D.

“My experience with Max has made me question why I have waited this long to begin taking formal guitar lessons. I have been playing guitar for over 10 years, but I lacked the fundamental understanding of the fretboard, scales/chord progressions, and basic music theory. Max was able to immediately diagnose what my skills and knowledge were lacking and diagnose a lesson plan accordingly. He is incredibly passionate about teaching and it shows. He is patient but also pushes my limits and challenges me to become a better polished guitarist.”

— Omar H.

“Maxime was a pleasure to work with, and professional on all fronts. Prior to my lessons, I had a fairly extensive history and knowledge with the guitar, and Maxime was able to build upon and tailor lessons according to my skill level, such that I was adequately challenged. I would highly recommend!”

— Noah D.

My Story

My name is Maxime Tanti. I am a musician and guitar teacher in Portland, Oregon. I began playing guitar in 2003 and quickly developed a strong love for improvisation. I spent years learning the fretboard and improving my ability to play rock, blues, and jazz solos.

As a teacher, I have created systems to teach those same skills to my students. I am continually honing my teaching methods in order to find the most effective and efficient path to mastering the guitar fretboard and effortless musical expression.

I look forward to working with you to help you understand the guitar and discover your ability to create beautiful music with your instrument.
